Next Wave - Hydrogen infrastructure for heavy-duty trucks

A large-scale rollout of heavy-duty hydrogen trucks requires a proper infrastructure. The Next Wave project is dealing with the challenge.

About Next Wave

The Next Wave project focuses on providing infrastructure for a large-scale deployment of hydrogen vehicles and mobilising transport companies to use these vehicles. The goal is to further promote the Nordic technological lead globally by stimulating the very first hydrogen infrastructure roll-out for larger vehicles. The project will map the needs for infrastructure development for a smooth transition to hydrogen vehicles. This roll-out will also benefit the use of hydrogen in trains, aviation, and the maritime sector.

In the third phase of the project the partners looked at the measures needed to get hydrogen trucks on Nordic roads. Their report shows that there is a need for further development of infrastructure that enables zero emission tradelines, connecting the maritime sector with heavy-duty vehicles.

As the project enters its fourth phase the partners will increase their effort to enable zero emission tradelines. With one new partner and more associated partners, the project will look further into bunkering and ports. Furthermore, the process of getting heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles rolling on Nordic roads will continue.

Next Wave is co-funded by Nordic Innovation.
